Why Design for Six Sigma?

Design for Six Sigma (DFSS)is the product development arm of Six Sigma. Product development companies are realizing that improving existing processes with Lean and Six Sigma will only get them so far. Forward-looking organizations are forging DFSS capabilities in order to design quality into the product. By using this collection of time-tested tools, companies are innovating more efficiently. The result is lower commercialization and technical risks: higher quality products launched on-time.

Why DD Forge

DD Forge offers training of very high quality. The training targets different learning styles to ensure maximum skill enhancement. It includes a substantial amount of hands-on learning to drive home the robust curriculum. The goal is to develop practitioners of DFSS, not just a team of acronym-users.

Offerings

Training

To help companies ramp-up their product development capabilities DD Forge offers Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) training with and without certification. Training is customizable to suit the needs of any size and type of company. The training requirements for certification are flexible and include breadth and depth minimums.

Certification

A belt certification from DD Forge means something. It's not a check box. It's not a throw-away line on a resume. It means the holder has demonstrated they have a set of skills critical to product development. It means that person is someone who can add value; someone who can help drive a team to successfully launch great products.

DD Forge offers Black Belt and Green Belt certification. The DD Forge certification seal carries integrity and accomplishment. To achieve certification, candidates engage in training, pass a test, perform practicum, and (for Black Belt) teach DFSS. While the certification is a high standard to reach, the quality of the training and support offered by DD Forge make it much easier. The goal is to certify everyone who enters certification training, not by lowering the bar, but by increasing the lift.

Consulting

Are you worried about your technical or commercialization risks on one of your product development projects? Not sure the best way to collect Voice of Customer? Having trouble designing quality into your product? Consulting by a DFSS Master Black Belt is available.

Medical Devices

The design and development of medical devices has its own challenges beyond other types of products. Further, the trends bolstered by the Affordable Care Act and Triple-Aim are an excellent application for DFSS and other Six Sigma methodologies. As such, DD Forge offers an option to integrate a Medical Device perspective into the DFSS training and include a separate module for optimizing DFSS within Design Control.

In my career I have been fortunate to be on teams developing products that support finding cures, improve quality of life, and help save lives. I'm passionate about developing products that help people in some way. That isn't done by accident. It's done by having a dedicated focus on doing things the right way. That's where Design for Six Sigma comes in. Building a DFSS skill-set can really help any product development company.

In my Six Sigma life, I was born into DFSS. That means I have the data-driven DNA of Six Sigma along with the customer-focus it takes to develop and market great quality products. I hope you share my passion for excellence in new product development. If you do, let's talk about how the DD Forge training can help you.
